Maiden
Katsin'mana is a
Katsina Maiden. They are very pretty, wearing their hairstyle
in butterfly whorls, a traditional hairstyle of an unmarried
maiden. They accompany the Hemis'katsinam, performing the Niman
Ceremony (Home Dance) of July. This ceremony finishes out the
Katsina season, which begins in February. A day after the dance
us held in the plaza, the Katsinam return to their spiritual
homes in San Francisco Peaks.
